We had heard rave reviews about the food stating that the high price was justified. My wife and I decided to have a date night at Cafe Martinique while staying at Atlantis this week. Go there instead if you want a special meal while in Paradise Island. Believe or not, this GREAT restaurant was actually a little less expensive than our disaster the night before. The next night we went to Dune at the Ocean Club and had a truly exquisite meal and experience The staff helped celebrate her birthday with singing and a complimentary dessert. A VERY unhappy birthday which the staff did NOTHING to acknowledge. The drink my wife ordered was not to her liking and they were kind enough to change it, but we were charged for the price of the first drink which was $7 more than the replacement. I enjoyed my snapper dish, but my wife tried to order Duck L'orange which was on the menu but we were told it was too late and the chef didn't prepare that dish at this hour (9PM, the only resevation slot available even though we reserved 2 weeks in advance) so she ordered the $80 Veal Chop which was thin and chewy and not the proper doneness (overly well done when medium was ordered. The French Onion soup had no greyere cheese and was extremely over salty (and my wife likes salt). The staff did nothing to try to quiet them down even though we. The noise level was extreme as there was a group that were screaming constantly. The worst $318 meal we ever had! We went for my wife's birthday and were sorry we did. Overall this was the most enjoyable meal of our trip (again kudos to David M). Yes its expensive but so is every restaurant at Atlantis. The only disappointment was the profiterole filled with ice cream instead of whipped cream or custard but the menu did say ice cream, so my fault for assuming it would be better. The braised lamb, branzino filet and veal chop (medium rare) were the winners with filet mignon not far behind. The ratatouille tart was very interesting. As for portion sizes, they are on the small side but flavors were generally very good. After my daughter spilt some of her appetizer on her clothing, without request nor hesitation David M appeared with club soda and a napkin to aid in the cleanup and then offered his arm when she asked for directions to the restroom. David M and his peers delivered attentive service you only see. High ceiling, belt-driven fans, ample natural light and much calmer than the headache-inducing noise at Seafire or Bimini Road. The ambience was exquisite, like an early 20th century era restaurant.
